Jennifer Leland Named 2019-2020 President of the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles
September 6, 2019
Robins Kaplan LLP is pleased to announce that Jennifer Leland has been named incoming president of the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles (WLALA). Her yearlong term begins with an installation dinner and centennial celebration on September 21. Additionally, Christina Lincoln will be installed as co-chair of WLALA’s Diversity Committee and Lauren Birkenstock will be named incoming co-chair of the Young Lawyers Section.
This year, WLALA celebrates its 100th anniversary and a century of advancing the promotion and retention of women within the legal profession. The organization was established in 1919 to promote the full participation of women lawyers and judges in the legal profession, maintain the legal system’s integrity by seeking fairness and equality, and improve the status of women and other underrepresented groups in society. It now has over a thousand members.
“I am honored to serve as a leader in this outstanding organization with such a rich history of advancing women in the legal profession,” Leland says. “I look forward to working with my colleagues Christina and Lauren, as well as the other members of the board, to continue to work for fairness and equality for women in the workplace.”
Leland has over 20 years of experience as a litigator, and currently focuses on entertainment and media-related litigation, representing individuals and companies in matters involving contract disputes, copyright and trademark infringement, profit participation rights, and royalty disputes. She also has significant experience representing clients in a broad range of business and commercial litigation matters, including breach of contract, unfair competition, false advertising, breach of fiduciary duty, real estate, and bankruptcy-related litigation. In addition to WLALA, Leland serves on the board of the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles Foundation.
